Counselling

What can Counselling or Life Coaching do for You?

I work with individuals, couples and children using artwork and hands on techniques that you can learn to use in your daily life to aid in supporting you through a difficult time right now. We would work together, to resolve issues that you feel are getting in the way, stopping you moving on and somehow impacting on your daily life.

It can take a lot of courage to ask for help and share your problems with someone else; the good news is that having spent time talking to a skilled helper about how you feel can make such a difference, often immediately.

Being heard in a non judgemental way can restore confidence and self esteem as you work through a difficult patch in you life and these blips can happen to anyone at any time.

For example the loss of a loved one through bereavement, the break-up of a relationship, problems at work, felling Angry and not sure why, started drinking too much alcohol or taking drugs.

Are you feeling depressed for no apparent reason, are you remembering incidents from the past and having flash backs, bad dreams, are you over eating or compulsive.

If you would like to look at ways of addressing and changing how you think, feel, act and behave please get in touch now by email, dp@davidplimmer.co.uk phone 01963 363359 or go through the ‘contact us' form in this website for friendly impartial assistance, empowering you to move on to the next phase of your journey.

Holistic Approach

I incorporate an integrative approach to Counselling using various techniques looking at the Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual aspects of Your Being.

Counselling plays a very important role in the this process as it allow you to explore how you are feeling at this moment in time and identifying areas in life that can block us from moving on and making the changes that we would like to make in our lives.

Gentle and Safe

From the counselling skills that I have developed over the years I can assist in this process of change in a gentle and safe way, taking you from where you are now, to where you would like to be.

Identifying what you want

Sometimes we do not know what we want and by skilfully exploring where you are at this moment in time and were you want to go, together we can open avenues that did not seem possible

Your Journey

The listening and questioning skills that I bring to the sessions allow me to help you decide on what path you want to follow. I use different techniques such as NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) Trance Work, which involves going into a deep meditative state to work with your subconscious where our limiting beliefs and learned patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us well are stored in the same way as a computers hard drive stores its files.

Play

I love the use of artwork to explore deep seated issues in a playful way. I use these tools with adults and children and I believe that using such tools as the Sand Tray, drawing Time Lines or Life Lines, Sketching and Painting, using Masks and Play Doe all of which introduce other senses such as sight, touch and feel, taking us out of our head and into our heart or body, allowing one to see and feel things differently, accessing feelings in a different and powerful way, giving the opportunity to gain insights into how we feel and where we are in a deep and moving way.

The mind body connection

There seems to be a lot of research of late into the mind body connection and how our thoughts and feelings can manifest in the body creating an imbalance in some way. This imbalance seems to manifest in some form of dysfunction be it pain or dis-ease. I believe that emotional, mental, physical and even spiritual stress or trauma can trigger illness so when I had quite a tumble on my motor bike I made sure I quickly had Cranial treatment to bring my body back into balance and speed up the recovery process.

Life Styles!

The stresses and strains we face on a daily basis can play a very big part in how our physical body feels. It can get tired, ache and pain, we might find we are performing under par, our sexual function can suffer, we may find ourselves having accidents, we might develop a 'pain in the neck', our back starts to hurt or we hurt ourselves in some way and these are signs or messages that we could benefit from reflecting inwards on our life.

As a member of BACP (British Association of Councellors and Psychotherapists), I abide by their code of ethics.
